Freddy Freeman’s success with the Los Angeles Dodgers this season is bittersweet for Atlanta Braves fans who still support him.
The biggest divorce in Major League Baseball since last winter was between Freddy Freeman and the Atlanta Braves. He ended up with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he might have a slightly better chance of winning back-to-back World Championship rings.
Regardless of the end result of where the two clubs ended up, his dominance in Hollywood this year is definitely bittersweet for Braves fans.
How good is Freeman? FOX Sports’ Rowan Kavner has done the math and Freeman can get away with hitting 125 knockouts and still have a better hitting average than the league average.
Freddie Freeman is having a great year with the Dodgers which is a weird feeling for Braves fans
The breakup between Freeman and Brave wasn’t bad. We saw how much I love playing in Atlanta when he got back there with the Dodgers earlier this season. Freeman loved his teammates, coaches, and especially the fans. It stands to reason that many of those cheering on the Braves also routinely check how the first Dodgers are performing.
Freeman was on a different level this year with the Dodgers. After Sunday’s game, he now hits .325 on the season. It sure helps to be in line with the other stars. Despite the quality of many of his Braves teams, none of them can compare to this year’s Dodgers.
Exactly how should Braves fans who still have a Freeman shirt in their wardrobe feel about this? It’s like seeing your ex that you ended things by finding a new amicable partner and getting his dream job.
It’s okay for Braves fans to silently root for Freeman for now. It’s when the Dodgers and Braves face each other in the post-season when the real controversy rages on.
Brave fans rooting against Freddy Freeman in October? Even just a few months ago, no one would have imagined it.
